pairs
The portrait pairs project scrutinizes context with a diverse body of photography captured all over the world. The format underscores the association between beliefs and images, and perception and form, as each photograph is defined in juxtaposition to its pair. Each image’s value may be reformed or elevated based on its visual or thematic relationship to a partner, paired as left and right. The pairs highlight the fellowship between reality and the imagined, the natural and the inorganic, dreams and waking life. They help us reflect on how systems grow and adapt, survive or die, or coexist.
